I find it de rigueur to begin with a margie at Mexican restaurants, as we did at Fonda, ordering their Cadillac $16) with a salted rim. That’s Maestro Dobel Reposado tequila, Grand Marnier, fresh lime juice, and agave nectar. Fonda is one of chef and cookbook author Roberto Santibañez’s New York restaurant.
The food here is fantastic. We tried the dry pepper chicken wings, fried chicken dumplings and chicken dry pot style. The wings and dumplings were amazing wings was definitely on the spicier end. The dry pot with chicken felt a little salty, but paired great with rice. All items are a little too oily and that might be an issue with some. Overall great experience for lunch.
Ordered one of their popular sandwiches, the House Breakfast. It is a beef bacon, egg, hash brown and cheese on a roll. It is really good! The beef bacon is definitely a better choice, great taste and crispy! I do recommend asking for extra sauce, makes it even better.
Took a trip to pickle guys and was pleasantly surprised. I expected pickles and things like hot peppers or olives but seeing all variety of pickled things they offered was amazing. Left with a quart of pickled pineapple and a pint of the pickled mangoes. I would definitely recommend stopping by this spot and taste testing all they have to offer, you won’t be disappointed!
